Mirzo Torsonzade

Mirzo Torsonzade (tadzh. Mirzo Tursunzade, May 2, 1911, the village Karatag bekstvo Hissar, Bukhara Emirate - September 24, 1977, Dushanbe) - Tadjik famous Soviet poet. People's Poet of the Tajik Soviet Socialist Republic (1961). Hero of Socialist Labor (1967). Laureate of Lenin (1960) and the Stalin Prize of the second degree (1948). Member of the CPSU (B) since 1941. A prominent statesman and public figure, member of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR, a member of the Communist Party of Tajikistan, Chairman of the Soviet Committee for Solidarity in Asia and Africa, a member of the Soviet Peace Committee, a member of the All-Union Committee on Lenin and USSR State Prize in literature, art and architecture, the chairman of the Tajik national Peace Committee, Chairman of the Committee for awarding the State Prize of the Tajik SSR. Rudaki, the poet's library associate editor of the publishing house "Soviet Writer" and 200-volume library of world literature, a member of the editorial board of the main Tajik Soviet Encyclopedia, Member of the Academy of Sciences of the Tajik Soviet Socialist Republic (from 1951). Awarded Nehru (1967), Laureate of the Lenin Komsomol of Tajikistan (1971). He was awarded four Orders of Lenin, Order of October Revolution, three Orders of the Red Banner, two Orders of the "Badge of Honor", numerous medals, including foreign ones.

Wrote in Russian and Tajik languages. Almost all the works of the poet translated into Russian, repeatedly published in the republican and All print media, in literary anthologies, as well as separate books. Translated into Tajik many works of Russian writers and writers of the Soviet republics: Pushkin and Shevchenko, Nekrasov, Jambul, Shota Rustaveli, Sh.Rashidova Zulfiya n others.

In 2011, the decision of UNESCO, the 100th anniversary of Mirzo Torsonzade will be celebrated in Tajikistan and globally.
